Dear Downtown Somerville Business Owner,
The Marketing Committee of the Somerville District Management Corporation (DMC) has been working on the holiday marketing opportunities for Downtown Somerville for this holiday season. Attached is a holiday marketing worksheet for business owners to complete and return to the DMC by Monday, October 13, 2008.
Coupon Books
We are continuing the holiday coupon book as we have received positive feedback on it for the past two years. This year we are printing 42,500 coupons books, an increase of 15,000 coupons books from last years printing of 27,500. This holiday season, 35,000 coupon books will be inserted into the Sunday, November 23 Courier News. The additional coupon books will be distributed locally. The cost for business owners to participate in the coupon book is $150, the same as in 2007, even though additional books will be printed and distributed.
Radio advertising
Due to the popularity of the radio advertising with business owners we are repeating the co-operative marketing advertising from the past couple of years with WMGQ and NJ 101.5. While the cost of radio advertising has increased each year since we began the promotion, we are keeping the cost of participation for the business owners at the same level, $75 for NJ 101.5 FM and $40 for WMGGQ. These are sixty seconds ads promoting Downtown Somerville for holiday shopping, dining and events and the business owner has a ten second portion of the ad to promote their business.
Holiday events
Santa will arrive on Saturday, November 29th downtown at 5 p.m. and stores and business should plan to stay open until 8 p.m. this evening as there will be events downtown into the evening to kick-off the holiday shopping and dining season. During December there will be live music on the weekends, horse and carriage rides and strolling Santa on Friday nights. Businesses should plan to stay open until 8 p.m. on Thursday and Friday nights, as this will be promoted to encourage evening shopping.
THE DEADLINE TO RETURN THE ATTACHED 2008 HOLIDAY MARKETING FORM IS MONDAY, OCTOBER 13.
PAYMENT IN FULL TO THE SOMERVILLE DMC MUST BE RECEIVED BY FRIDAY, OCTOBER 31.
